The Volunteer Days are taking place in the municipality of Chisinau until October 15. Different activities for young people will be staged at Youth Centers in Chisinau, such as training sessions, competitive games and quizzes. “By all the panned activities, we aim to promote the civic spirit of the young people,” Petru Grecu, director of the municipal Youth Center, has told IPN.

The Volunteer Opportunities Fair on October 15 will involve youth NGOs, youth councils, youth centers situated in the municipality of Chisinau and its suburban settlements, which will stage an information session on the existing volunteer opportunities for young people. At the Gala “We Take Off our Hat before Volunteers” the same day, gratitude will be expressed to all those who become actively involved in volunteering at municipal levels and to the organizations that promote volunteering among the youth.

According to Petru Grecu, such organizations are not many in number. The problem resides in the inability to keep on. “If an organization is not viable and does not know how to ensure continuity, it will disappear soon. If the organization has a view and a clear mission, it will continue working long,” he stated.

The Chisinau City Hall annually organizes the municipal program of grants for youth organizations. The budget of the program this year is 500,000 lei.
