135 years since death of poet Mihai Eminescu

Mihai Eminescu is the poet who defined our national identity and made the Romanian works famous all over the world. It is extremely important that his work be passed on to the generations to come, said representatives of the Chisinau City Hall who today laid flowers at the monument to the bard in the square of “Mihai Eminescu” National Theater and at the poet’s bust on the Alley of Classics, IPN reports.

“Today we mark 135 years since the death of the great poet of our universe, Mihai Eminescu. His work will remain forever immortal and we have a duty to pass it on from generation to generation to our children to be read and reread whenever we remember Eminescu or whenever we mention Eminescu. It is our duty to come and commemorate the great poet who made the Romanian works famous all over the international, national territory. We commemorate him today and always,” stated the deputy mayor of Chisinau Irina Gutnic.

“Today we pay homage to the great national poet Mihai Eminescu, namely 135 years since his death. The poet who defined our a national identity, who was able to delight us, to praise our nation, tradition, the mother, our values and today we paid tribute to the poet because it is very important to transmit to the generations the value of this poet, of the work he left as legacy,” said deputy mayor Angela Kutasevich

The official invited all those interested to participate in the tribute event organized by the City Hall in “Mihai Eminescu” square on Saturday, starting at 18.00. There will be held a tribute show, where Eminescu’s verses will be intertwined through music and through theater.

Mihai Eminescu died on June 15, 1889, in the health home of Dr. Șuțu in Bucharest.
