Thunderstorms, possibly accompanied by strong winds up to 15-20 m/s and hail, are forecast today across Moldova. The State Weather Service has issued a yellow alert valid until 9:00 PM.
Ghenadi Roșca, chief forecaster at the Service, told IPN there is also a possibility of flooding events.
As winds grow stronger, trees can be knocked down and roofs can be torn off. Danger can also come from electric shocks. If people cannot find safe shelter, they should at least avoid electric systems, downed wires and avoid taking cover under trees.
Drivers are advised to adjust their speed to the road conditions, dam operators to ensure their integrity, and farmers to install anti-hail nets.
