The National Public Security Inspectorate launches the nationwide operation “Pedestrian”. According to it, 95 accidents involving pedestrians who were jaywalking occurred in the first half of this year. Consequently, 11 persons died, while 86 were injured. The operation will last for ten days and is aimed at preventing the injuring of pedestrians in road accidents, primarily of minors, IPN reports.
To be safe, the persons must cross the street only by crosswalks and always comply with the color of the stoplights. The pedestrians must make sure that the driver saw them and has time to stop. Increased attention is required when crossing a street with more than two lanes.
The 360 road accidents that happened in the first six months of the year resulted in 32 deaths and 337 persons injured.
