The Central Election Commission comes together for a meeting later today to approve the decision concerning the holding of the mayoral runoff vote in the municipality of Bălți on December 19, 2021, IPN reports.
The mayoral runoff that was to take place in Bălți on December 5 was suspended. The CEC took such a decision because there was no irrevocable court decision concerning the exclusion of Șor Party’s candidate for mayor Marina Tauber from the electoral competition.
After the Appeals Court upheld the ordinary court’s decision concerning the exclusion, the Supreme Court of Justice also rejected the appeal field by the lawyers for the candidate of Șor Party. The lawyers said they intend to go to the European Court of Human Rights as the decision to suspend the December 5 mayoral runoff in Bălți was abusive, illegal and infringed on the right to free elections and on the right to vote and to stand as a candidate at elections.
