The former head of the General Police Inspectorate (GPI) Alexandru Pînzari, who also served as minister of defense, was arrested within the case featuring employees of the former Division No.5 of the Inspectorate.
The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said that searches in the car and home of another person investigated in this case were carried out in the morning of July 30. When the offenses were committed, this person held managerial posts at GPI. As a result of searches, there were seized electronic devices and notes. The suspect was later arrested.
During the next 48 hours or 72 hours, the prosecutors will decide whether to charge the person or not and what preventive measure to impose on him.
The case refers to abuse of power, appropriation of state property, illegal crossing of the state border, disclosure of state secret and falsification of public documents.
