Five new ISUZU buses were put on route No. 9 in Chisinau. The units of transport were bought from Turkey at the price of €132,000 per bus, IPN reports.
Vitalie Mihalache, acting head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division, said the buses can transport 100 passengers. They are outfitted with air conditioning systems and have access ways for persons with disabilities. The units of transport have a guarantee period of 6.5 years.
Fifteen new buses ISUZU of the lot of 100 purchased by the municipality this year were put on routes in Chisinau by now. The other ten buses supplement the units of transport on routes No. 5, 19 and 26. Ten more buses are to be registered. The other units of transport will be delivered to Chisinau by the end of this year, in accordance with the purchase contract.
Officials of the Division noted the launch of new buses is difficult as the Urban Bus Company is short of drivers and ticket inspectors The company is drafting a decision concerning the increase of salaries of drivers and inspectors. Currently, the Urban Bus Company needs 25 drivers and 40 inspectors. The salaries of these vary between 6,000 and over 10,000 lei.
