First hearing in Șor case at Chisinau Appeals Court adjourned

The first hearing at the Chisinau City Appeals Court after the transfer of the Șor case from the Cahul Appeals Court was adjourned. One of the three judges of the panel declared abstention. This is Stelian Teleucă, IPN reports.

The rapporteur on the case is judge Ion Bulhac, while the third judge is Oxana Robu.

The next hearing was set for September 21, 10am.

In June 2017, Ilan Shor was sentenced to 7½ years in jail for his role in the 2014 bank fraud. The sentence was appealed, and has remained in limbo ever since, and Shor was released on bail. Meanwhile, Shor won a lawmaker’s seat in the Moldovan Parliament, twice. In June 2019, immediately after the oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc fled Moldova, Shor followed suit and prosecutors sought his arrest for breaching bail conditions.
