Chisinau electoral constituency council will send to the court today the minutes regarding the results of the elections in the municipality. The information was confirmed for IPN by the Secretary of the Council, Igor Moraru. Within ten days, the court will confirm or deny by a decision the legality of the elections.
According to the Electoral Code, the electoral constituency councils of the administrative-territorial units of the first level submit the minutes regarding the results of the elections to the respective sector or municipal court. While second level councils - to the courts where the constituency electoral councils are located.
In ten days from the receipt of the constituency councils’ reports, the courts, confirm or invalidate through their decision the legality of the elections in each constituency and send it, within 24 hours after passing it, to the Central Electoral Commission and to the respective electoral constituency councils, which publish the final results.
Asked by IPN, CEC Chairman Dorin Cimil has said that most councilor mandates have been validated, just as the mandates of the mayors elected in the first round. Today, the Commission will take decisions regarding the convening of the first meeting of the councilors in 20 district councils, including Balti Municipal Council. There are no cases of invalidation of the election results for the time being.
