While Moldovan MiGs are gathering rust...
Bratislava is ready to discuss transferring its 11 MiG-29s to Kyiv in the near future. This was by the Minister of Defense of Slovakia Jaroslav Nagy. He added that his country isn’t big enough to afford such gifts as warplanes to Ukraine. Therefore, Slovakia is considering the option of replacing fighter jets with newer ones, or selling them.
He said each is worth about € 35 million. The 11 jets were set to stop being operated by the Slovakian Air Force from the end of August, with Czech and Polish aircraft expected to take over protecting Slovakia’s air space from the start of September.
The minister made such comments during a joint news conference with British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.
They wasted taxpayers’ money to polish their image
The FSB recruited almost a thousand agents in Ukraine. The GRU formed a parallel network of agents, consisting of up to 300 agents.
The leading investigator of the Bellingcat group, Hristo Grozev, said that about 120 officers from the fifth service of the FSB and up to 40 from the GRU worked against Ukraine, but their forecasts turned out to be an illusion and that service is losing the trust of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Grozev said this in a comment on LIGA.net.
NATO in favor of strengthening Ukraine’s defense capacities
The North Atlantic Alliance will provide Ukraine with hundreds of portable anti-drone systems, stated NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
“NATO will provide a comprehensive package of assistance that will include secure communications, fuel, medical supplies and protective vests, equipment to protect against mines, chemical and biological threats, as well as hundreds of portable anti-drone systems,” Stoltenberg said. He did not specify which complexes are in question.
Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that Ukraine will be able to receive F-16 aircraft after the airfields are re-equipped. “We have a chance that our pilots will begin to master the modern generation of aircraft. And what kind of aircraft will they be … Everyone dreams of the F-16, I would also dream of them, but something will have to be done with the airfields,” Reznikov said. “I think that we will be able to receive planes of this class.”
Ports ready to start loading wheat
Ukraine is preparing to start grain exports via the Black Sea ports this week under the grain deal signed last week in Turkey. Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said the movement of ships from the Black Sea ports is due to start by the end of the current week.
The demining process will be carried out exclusively in the corridor for the passage of cargo ships, and all ship caravans will be accompanied by Ukrainian rescue vessels, Kubrakov said.
As part of the grain export agreement, the Ukrainian authorities plan to export about three million tons of agricultural products every month, said the head of the Department of Agrarian Policy of Odessa OVA Alla Stoyanova.
According to her, the export of goods will be carried out through sea corridors from three ports – Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdenny. At the same time, the first two will work this week, the last – the next.
Kazakhstan close to rethinking policies
The weakening of ties with Russia has seen Kazakhstan draw closer to China, the United States and NATO member Turkey in recent months, WSJ reported.
“Imagine if they [Russia] don’t have Ukraine to abuse. Are we going to be next?” the unnamed official told WSJ.
”Classic Russian schizophrenia”
Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, said that Moscow was determined to help Ukrainians “liberate themselves from the burden of this absolutely unacceptable regime.” “Russian and Ukrainian people would continue to live together, we will certainly help Ukrainian people to get rid of the regime, which is absolutely anti-people and anti-historical,” he said.
The head of the OP of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak replied: “Classic Russian schizophrenia: in the morning you declare that Moscow is striving for negotiations, and in the evening that your goal is to “get rid of the anti-people Kyiv regime.”
According to Podolyak, the words belong to the subject representing the aggressor country, which, for no reason, invaded foreign territory and brutally kills Ukrainians.
“So, “regimes” – this is something in Russian prisons, but in Ukraine there is a legally elected government that has won fair, competitive, democratic elections. So many unfamiliar words for the Russian elite in one sentence, isn’t it?” noted the adviser to the head of the OPU.
