Victor Furtuna wins contest for post of PCCOCS head

Victor Furtuna was designated the winner of the contest for the position of chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS). He accumulated the highest score in the interview stage held on Thursday by the Superior Council of Prosecutors. Now, Furtuna will have his ethical and financial integrity assessed by the Vetting Commission, IPN reports.

The interview stage involved three candidates who were previously selected by the special commission that staged the competition. After totaling the results of the interview stage, Victor Furtuna emerged victorious with 75.56 points. Ion Neguritsa accumulated 70.42 points, and Andrei Matsko – 57.1.

Victor Furtuna is to be confirmed as chief prosecutor of the PCCOCS by the prosecutor general. The Vetting Commission will be provided with information for the external assessment of his ethical and financial integrity.

Victor Furtuna has been working in the prosecution service since 2011. From January 2023 until now, following a decision by the Superior Council of Prosecutors, he has held the position of head of the PCCOCS on an interim basis.
