The veterans who came together in the central square of Chisinau on February 8 decided to create the National Veterans Council. They adopted a resolution whereby they request the authorities to set up a veterans’ department under the Government, IPN reports.
The National Veterans Council was created in a move to bring together the tens of veterans’ organizations. Under the adopted resolution, the duty of the veterans’ department will be to restore the benefits provided to veterans by Moldova’s first Parliament.
The veterans next week plan to go to the Government to ask for a meeting with Prime Minister Ion Chicu so as to familiarize him with their demands.
After the meeting held in the Great National Assembly Square, the participants marched to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration where they sought the resignation of Minister Aureliu Ciocoi over the statements he made about the Nistru war.
