Two regional hospitals – National Hospital in Bălți and District Hospital in Comrat – as from March 26 will work as institutions intended for persons who are infected or are suspected of being infected with COVID-19, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu stated after the meeting of the National Focal Point, IPN reports.
According to the minister, the hospitals were outfitted and the personnel were trained. The doctors have personal protective equipment. In serious cases, the patients will be taken to the National Clinical Hospital. Pregnant women or children will be taken to medical institutions in Chisinau.
Of the 149 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Moldova to date, 100 are of local transmission and 49 are of import. A number of 28 persons are in a serious state. One infected person died, while two are considered cured.
Eight infected children and two mothers are treated t the Municipal Clinical Children’s Hospital of Contagious Diseases. Another mother with the child was admitted to the Mother and Child Institute, but the child is not infected.
Viorica Dumbrăveanu said statistics show the cases of local transmission increased in number. Regrettably, the authorities cannot influence the people to behave responsibly. The minister called again on the population to stay at home so as to prevent the spread of the virus.
