Two books - "A trip to the world of the past. Memories of a Pole from Bessarabia", by Tadeusz Gaydamowicz, and the collection "Family Memories" - were presented at the Polish Library of Culture and Literature "A. Mickiewicz". The event takes place within the Days of Polish library of culture and literature "A. Mickiewicz", which are held between November 13 and 14.
According to the director of the library, Oxana Andreev, the book "A trip to the world of the past. Memories of a Pole from Bessarabia" was published in 2018 by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Chișinău, however, it was launched in February 2019 at the National Library. It contains articles of the "dean of the Polish diaspora", which were previously published in Jutrzenka magazine. The book includes six articles written between 2000 and 2003 and a collection of photographs. The book tells the history of the Poles that arrived on Bessarabian lands and describes the life of the Poles during the inter-war period. The book is in Polish and Romanian and will be part of the library's collection.
Helena Usova, editor-in-chief of Jutrzenka magazine, said that the idea of the second book, "Family Memories", arose in 2002, when the Polish Embassy in Chișinău announced a literary contest regarding family memories of Polish people living in Moldova. People of different ages have expressed their desire to participate in the competition. The best works were published in the journal, then put together in a collection.
On Days of Polish library of culture and literature "A. Mickiewicz ", the photography exhibition "Heritage for centuries" was opened. It reflects the heritage objects of the Republic of Poland registered in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity UNESCO.
