Transnistrian entrepreneurs paid almost 124m lei customs duties into state budget

Since the entry into force of the new Customs Code on January 1, economic agents of the Transnistrian region have paid 123.8 million lei customs duties into the state budget.

In a response to an inquiry made by IPN, the Customs Service said that 454 economic agents of the eastern districts of the Republic of Moldova submitted customs declarations between January 1 and September 8.

Some of the export and import operations were exempt from duties due to preferences granted in accordance with international treaties and agreements to which the Republic of Moldova is a party.

The Republic of Moldova collects customs duties on the left bank of the Nistru for the first time, after a new Customs Code came into force on January 1, 2024. The new provisions put exporters and importers from both banks on an equal footing. Despite protests and accusations from the Tiraspol administration, the Transnistrian economic agents have complied and paid the required customs duties.
