The police are considering a number of persons of interest in the case of the 29-year-old man whose body was found buried in a forest in Zubresti, Straseni.
Among them is reportedly the son of Ion Stratulat, a policeman-turned-gangster who was murdered in 2011, and grandson of police general-turned-politician Nicolae Alexei.
Moldovan Police Chief Viorel Cernăuțeanu confirmed for TV8 that one of the suspects had “a certain degree of kinship” to General Alexei, but declined to give further details, citing presumption of innocence considerations.
The 29-year-old was found dead Wednesday night after his mother reported him missing the day before. His body was found buried in a forest near the village of Zubresti. It is believed he died from three thoracic gunshot injuries.
The press reported that the victim and the presumed killer had participated together in a house party that lasted for several days. It was held at a Zubresti forest cabin owned by the Stratulat family. The 29-year-old, the son of an influential Rezina farmer, was reportedly among the last to stay at the party, alongside Ion Stratulat’s son and two young women. The victim was shot from his own gun.
