The National Resistance Movement ACUM is protesting near the Monument to Stephan the Great. The place of the protest was changed given that sympathizers of the Shor Party are having a barbecue and are amusing themselves in the central square of Chisinau, IPN reports.
The leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu called on the Movement’s supporters to gather together near the Monument to Stephan the Great so as to avoid provocations. She said the event in the Great National Assembly Square is a show staged by the leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc, who wants the protest to degenerate into violence.
According to the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Năstase, the police assured the members of the Movement ACUM that they will do their best for those who occupied the square to leave soon so that the protest could continue there where it was planned.
The Committee of the National Resistance Movement ACUM was created in reaction to the decision to not validate the Chisinau early mayoral elections and has among its leaders heavyweights of the PAS, PPPDA, PLDM and representatives of civil society.
