The U.S. Embassy in Moscow has  called on Americans to depart Russia immediately while limited commercial travel options remain, saying transportation options may become even more limited.

“Russia may refuse to acknowledge dual nationals’ U.S. citizenship, deny their access to U.S. consular assistance, prevent their departure from Russia, and conscript dual nationals for military service”, the Embassy also warned.

Meanwhile, EuroWeekly reported that three EU members, Bulgaria, Poland, and Estonia, have advised their citizens to get out of Russia as soon as possible.

In particular, Bulgaria urged its citizens to use all possible means of movement, while those who decided to remain in Russia were advised to “exercise increased vigilance, avoid places of mass gathering of people, and closely monitor the development of the situation”.

The foreign ministries of Poland and Estonia issued similar advisories. With regards to the current political situation, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared the “highest level of threat”.

IPN earlier reported that the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructed the Embassy in Russia to work on weekends in response to an increase in the number of applications for travel documents.”
