PM Chicu discusses with EU Delegation head


 Prime Minister Ion Chicu has assured the head of the EU Delegation in Moldova, Peter Michalko, that the dialogue with the European Union and the implementation of the Association Agreement remain a priority for his cabinet. During a meeting on Monday, the prime minister said that Moldova hopes this dialogue will advance and grow stronger.

According to a government press release, Ion Chicu told Peter Michalko that he understands how important real reforms are and that the Government is determined to promote them. “Increased priority will be given to the justice reform. Therefore, EU assistance and expertise will be highly appreciated", said Ion Chicu, expressing gratitude to the EU for the long-term support provided to Moldova.

The prime minister confirmed that the EU is one of Moldova’s most important external partners and underlined that the executive will continue to meet the necessary conditions for accessing macro-financial assistance.

Ambassador Michalko said that the European Union is closely monitoring the actions of the Government in Chisinau and the implementation of the reforms undertaken. Peter Michalko stressed the need for the Government to continue reforms in the justice sector, including the selection of the Prosecutor General, the fight against corruption, ensuring democracy and the rule of law, ensuring media freedom, and the further investigation of the bank fraud.
