A dead man was found in a seven-floor apartment located on Moscova Blvd in Rascani district of Chisinau that was rocked by an exposition in the morning on February 17.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, the call to 112 was received at about 6:30am. Two firefighting teams travelled to the scene and extinguished the fire after forcing the door of the apartment.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies Liliana Pușcașu said that other apartments weren’t damaged in the blast. The victim is a 65-year-old man.
Press officer of the Chisinau Police Division Natalia Stati said that a gas cylinder was found in the apartment, but this was intact. A gas leakage is not yet excluded. An investigation was opened to determine the cause of death of the man who is the owner of the apartment.
In October 2018, a gas cylinder exploded in an apartment located on the same street of Chisinau. A number of apartments on three stories were destroyed then. Five persons, one of whom a child, died. No one was penalized as the owner of the apartment where the blast occurred died.
