Pensions will be indexed next year by 6%. The budget for pensions will be 28.8 billion lei, increasing by 11% compared to 2023. Old-age pensions will be provided for 530,643 pensioners. Parliament approved in the first reading the draft 2024 Social Insurance Budget.

Revenues are estimated at 42.7 billion lei, a 10% increase from this year. The general resources of the state social insurance budget will represent 56.9%, and the remainder will be topped up from the state budget.

A series of new social benefits will be granted in 2024: the lump-sum allowance for the period of entrustment of the adoptable child, the lump-sum allowance for the child adopted or taken into foster care, and the allowance for raising an adopted child over the age of three years. At the same time, expenses of 3.7 million lei are provided in the context of extending the number of days for the benefit of parental allowance up to 15 calendar days and granting the allowance to the father of the adopted child.

Also, expenses are planned for granting energy compensation in the form of monetary payment, which involves the integration of two instruments to support people in the cold season: the aid for the cold season and on-bill compensations. Also, the lump-sum birth allowance will increase to 20,000 lei.

Parliament is to vote on the document in its final reading.
