The Democratic Party of Moldova starting with the immediate period will act as a “pro-Moldova” party that embraces all the Moldovans and whose agenda has the people’s problems as the key priority, the president of the PDM Vlad Plahotniuc stated in a press briefing after the meeting of the party’s National Political Council that was earlier announced as an urgent one, IPN reports.
Vlad Plahotniuc said the PDM will soon undergo a number of changes and will have a much clearer position on the political arena. This positon is based on citizens’ expectations of a political party. During 27 years of independence, the parties were created and developed based on geopolitical criteria and the people were implanted the idea that the country’s problems can be solved only if they were pro-European, pro-Russian, pro-American, unionist etc. No party positioned itself yet as pro-Moldova.
“The Moldovans face the same problems, regardless of the geopolitical option. Their problems cannot be solved geopolitically. They can be solved by a proper internal policy designed amid Moldovans and for Moldovans, not outside the country,” stated Vlad Plahotniuc.
As to the party’s political program for the immediate period, the president of the PDM said this will be based on the voice of the ordinary people and the PDM’s team in the immediate period will work at the local level to collect proposals from people.
Vlad Plahotniuc also said that the Western development model is the best one for the country. At the same time, the Government should adjust its actions to the population’s urgent needs, such as the rise in salaries and pensions, road and water pipeline building and waste collection.
In another development, the leader of the PDM said the criticism leveled by political groups at him and his party should be regarded as a form of political competition. This should yet be analyzed and, if it contains constructive elements, these will be taken into consideration.
