More than 7,700 infections with COVID-19 have been confirmed in Moldova by May 29. 55% of those infected have been cured. As many as 245 patients are in a serious state. The casualties total 282, IPN quoted the head of the National Public Health Agency Nicolae Furtună as saying in a news conference.
During the last two weeks, the number of new cases of COVID-19 increased because of the infectious reported in the Transnistrian region, which were included in statistics.
The highest incidence of infections was recorded in Soroca district, which is followed by Ştefan-Vodă, Dubăsari and Glodeni districts. Chisinau ranks fifth and has mainly community transmission cases and family hotbeds. There are no major explosions in infections with COVID-19 in Chisinau, except for those at medical institutions.
Over 42,000 persons have been tested since the start of the pandemic. The average age of the infected persons is over 47. The infected women prevail over infected men and there are more infections in urban areas than in rural ones. The persons aged between 60 and 69 and those over 70 are the most affected.
The average age of the persons who succumbed to COVID-19 was over 66. Several young people lost the battle with the disease because they suffered also from other diseases that were incompatible with the complications caused by COVID-19. Of those who died, 84% were put on a ventilator.
