People’s access to public places will be limited as of March 25

The people’s access to public places, such as parks, playgrounds and other areas where crowds of people can appear, will be limited as of March 25. The measure applies to municipalities, towns and district centers. A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of the Commission for Exceptional Situations that was held late in the evening of March 23, IPN reports.

According to Prime Minister Ion Chicu, the measure is rather harsh, but absolutely necessary for stopping the spread of COVID-19. The decision is to be implemented by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Defense.

“Together with such a move, we must engage the armed forces of the Republic of Moldova so as to maintain order and to provide assistance to the Ministry of Home Affairs in implementing these decisions,” stated the official.

The state of emergency in Moldova in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic was instituted for 60 days, until May 15.
