Moldova’s museums to take part in Night of Museums together with Romanian museums

The museums of Moldova for the first time will take part in a common edition, together with Romanian museums, of the Night of Museums. The National Museum Network of Romania published on a platform the program of local museums and of Moldovan museums, which includes a series of events entitled “Fashion Comes to Life at Night of Museums”. The museums will simultaneously open their doors on May 13 and will remain open until late at night. The cultural-artistic events can be watched free, IPN reports.

The visitors of the National Museum of History of Moldova as from 5pm will have access to the permanent and temporary exhibitions of the museum. “We invented, together with students of the Center of Excellence in the Light Industry, hairstyling workshops under the theme “Don’t be afraid and try it out!” and make-up workshops entitled “Let history make you up!” Those who want to take part in these workshops will try to do historical hairdos, like Roman plaits, the French bun, the famous French arrow, etc. For the first time, we established cooperation relations with the International Women’s Club of Moldova that comes with two unique events – the workshop “Enigma of Indian Sari” and the international parade “Fashion without Borders”. We will have representatives from Moldova, Ukraine and other European and less European states, who will present traditional costumes,” Livia Sârbu, vice director of the National Museum of History of Moldova, has told IPN. She noted that the museum also has a musical program with guitar recitals, classical music and choral music recitals and a fire show.

The cultural program of the Chisinau City History Museum starts with the fair “Eco Art Sale in the Tower” staged by young creators. There will be presented a clothing exhibition “Reuse” mounted by students of the Faculty of Design of the Moldova Technical University and staged an event titled “Chisinau, City of Longing” that will involve Ukrainian refugee children. “In the panoramic hall, the Arts School “Valeriu Poleacov” will present a performance of music. The Plastic Arts and Design Faculty of the Teacher Training University “Ion Creangă” will stage a fashion parade titled “Artemisia”. The evening will end with a digital light projection on the museum’s building. The last visitor can enter at 11pm,” said Valeria Suruceanu, director of the Chisinau City History Museum.

Valeria Suruceanu noted that by these events and by the Night of Museums in general, it is confirmed the important role played by museums in developing society, in maintaining ties between the past and the future. It is essential for the students to attend such events. The European Night of Museums shows that the museums are now more open to visitors.

The European Night of Museums is at its 19th edition. The event was initiated by Ministry of Culture of France and is now held under the aegis of UNESCO, the Council of Europe and the International Council of Museums.
