Moldovan caught smuggling three aiming devices for arms

A Moldovan man tried to cross the Moldovan-Romanian border with a false Romanian passport with which he intended to reach France, IPN reports

According to the Territorial Inspectorate of the Iasi Border Police, the 50-year-old man who intended to leave Moldova by his car was subject to a thorough check based on the risk profile at the Sculeni-Iasi border crossing point. An identity card with the symbols of the Romanian authorities in his name and with his photo was found in the case of his mobile phone. The border police established that the document was false.

The man said the document was bought by his brother through the agency of a person whose name he does not know for €150. He intended to use it to find a job in France.

In another case, a Moldovan man aged 37, driving a minibus registered in the Republic of Moldova, hid three sights, aiming devices for arms, in the torpedo of his vehicle. The man told the border police at the Galați – Iasi border crossing point that he was asked by a friend of his to carry the three devices from Moldova to Turkey. The devices were seized. An investigation into the nonobservance of the regime of arms and munitions is under way.
