The national football team of Moldova this evening plays the first friendly match of 2020. The team trained by Engin Firat meets Sweden, IPN reports.
The lineup of Sweden consists only of players from the internal competition, while that of Moldova includes 11 foreign players. Posmac, Dijinari, Crăciun and Nicolăescu suffered injuries and weren’t involved.
“We want to play against powerful opponents. In March we will meet Russia and in June I hope we will have one more impressive friendly match. I want the players to gain experience before the Nations League that will start in autumn,” Moldova manager Engin Firat told a news conference.
Sweden has qualified for the UEFA Euro 2020 and takes the 17th position in the FIFA rankings. Earlier, Moldova and Sweden met for seven times and Sweden emerged victorious every time.
The Sweden – Moldova encounter in Doha starts at 7pm, Moldova’s time.
