The public association “Moldova mea” will monitor the statements made in the public sphere and will sue those who encroach upon the honor and dignity of the President of the Republic of Moldova.
In a news conference at IPN, the association’s head Fiodor Ghelici said the President of the Republic of Moldova is chosen by the people and causing offense to him means causing of offense to the people.
Preparing an application to the Prosecutor General’s Office to ask that the ex-President of Romania Traian Basescu should be held accountable for the statements made against Igor Dodon in the congress of the National Unity Party is a first step that the association will take. It is up to the law enforcement bodies to decide how these statements will be classed, stated Fiodor Ghelici.
The activist noted that he does not remember Moldovan officials addressing insults to the former President of Romania. In the same connection, Fiodor Ghelici referred to the statements made by the mayor of Balti Renato Usatyi, who is in the Russian Federation and who insults the President.
According to Ghelici, the voters have the right to ask the President how the promises made in the election campaign are delivered. But the messages should not be offensive and mocking.
In the same news conference, association member Eugenia Banaru told about a team of welders from Hancesti, who cannot get the money for work they did in 2010. The workers went to court, but no judgment was passed and the case was dropped in 2016. At the request of the workers, the appeals court ordered to retry the case. Ultimately, the court made a decision against the welders. Eugenia Banaru said this case is only an example of passing of an illegal judgment. She called on the Head of State to intervene and bring things in the justice sector in order.
