Termoelectrica has announced that it is carrying out broad works to modernize and maintain the thermotechnical equipment used to produce heat and electrical energy through cogeneration at Generation Unit No. 1. According to the supplier, multiple activities are performed to replace major equipment so as to improve the operational efficiency, to increase the output of production installations and the reliability of electricity generation through cogeneration, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the company.
“Our priorities, as the previous years, include the rehabilitation of production infrastructure and absolutely necessary modernizations as these materialize into direct benefits for consumers by ensuring the continuity of the uninterrupted supply and improvement of the quality of the provided heating services,” said Termoelectrica director general Veaceslav Eni.
Among the main activities are the replacement of the degasser of Energy Block No. 3, which will enable to improve the technical normal functioning parameters and to save about 4.2 million a year due to the functioning of the degasser at normal parameters, the replacement of three water circulation pumps for cooling the hydrogen in electrical generators at Energy Blocks No. 1 and No. 3 so as to increase the reliability of the blocks and to economize about 20% on the electricity consumption of the new equipment.
There are replaced the screens behind Energy Boilers No. 1 and No. 3 and modernized 14 cells of 6 kV. Other current works are executed in parallel, including repair works on turbo generators, technical overhaul, replacement of a valve at Energy Block No. 1 so as to improve the functioning of the block, cleaning of filters and utilization of anticorrosive protection.
The repair works at Generation Unit No. 1 are to be completed by the middle of September.
