The mayor general of Chisinau and 11 mayors of suburban settlements of the municipality of Chisinau signed a statement in support of independent candidate for President who is supported by the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon, IPN reports.
In a statement signed by the local elected officials, it is said that even if they represent different political parties, their only care is for the communities they manage. “We do not need chaos and destabilization. We do not want all the infrastructure and social projects to be blocked as it happened, regrettably, during the Sandu Government,” reads the statement.
The mayors noted they want the state to continue to support the national producers, while the farmers should be able to export freely to all the markets, including the EU and the Russian Federation. In a press briefing, the mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said good and great things can be done only when there is understanding and continuous communication. The close cooperation between the presidential administration, Parliament, the Government and the local administration of Chisinau resulted in very important projects for the inhabitants of the capital city.
Ion Ceban said Igor Dodon pledged to offer the support needed to complete the belt road bypassing Chisinau. Owing to Igor Dodon’s initiative, 25 km of roads were repaired in suburban localities this year. As of next year, the municipality will receive 100 million lei from the state budget for supporting the municipal program to rehabilitate yards of apartment buildings and to repair sidewalks on a number of streets. The central authorities will also help finish the renovation of the wastewater treatment station, to clean the Byk River, etc.
