Leușeni border crossing point is operational

The Leușeni border crossing point was unblocked close to midnight. Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Border Police Raisa Novitski said that the Leușeni border crossing point now works as usual.

In the context of the farmers’ protest, several hundred transport units, including heavy trucks, were blocked, being redirected from the Leușeni road to other frontier posts. On Monday evening, the police asked that the farmers should withdraw their agricultural machines from the Leușeni customs post.

In connection with the protests that have lasted for five days and are expanding geographically, the Farmers’ Force Association  called for the immediate initiation of an effective dialogue by the Government and Parliament with farmers who took to the streets. They say they are on the verge of bankruptcy and seek the resignation of the minister of agriculture and food industry. Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, announced a press briefing for Tuesday.
