The Shor Party on August 26 staged an event in support of the social projects initiated by the party’s leader Ilan Shor in the Great National Assembly Square. Sympathizers of the party had a barbecue and amused themselves. Meanwhile, protesters organized by the National Resistance Movement ACUM gathered together near the Triumphal Arch and near the Monument to Stephan the Great. The camps were separated by a cordon of carabineers. Booed by the protesters from near the Triumphal Arch, Ilan Shor mounted the rostrum in the central square of Chisinau accompanied by a MEP, IPN reports.
“We came to struggle for our projects and to help the people,” said the mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor. “Someone in our country wants to scarp our projects. But we did and will continue to do good things. The social stores will continue working. We work for the people and will continue to do so,” said the party’s leader. According to him, the fact that there is a MEP on the stage shows that Europe looks at the processes in Moldova in a different way.
“I came today to this event to support the projects implemented by the leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor,” stated MEP Barbara Kappel, who was quoted in a press release of the party. “I want to say that the activities staged by this party are welcome for the Republic of Moldova and the European Union supports them, especially because these are social projects. I’m sure the Shor Party will emerge victorious at the parliamentary elections of February 2019,” stated Barbara Kappel.
The MEP was booed by the crowd from near the Triumphal Arch when she appeared on the stage alongside Ilan Shor. The people shouted that the MEP should assume the committed thefts.
