“For the first time in Moldovan politics, an MP who said that he decided to quit returned and I think this is very important. None of the parties that were abandoned by MPs, and not few left, managed to persuade the MPs to return,” President Igor Dodon stated, referring to the scandal featuring Ștefan Gațcan, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon noted that he didn’t discuss the taken actions with Ștefan Gațcan. This subject was discussed only with the Socialist MPs, but he will not comment on the moves of MPs.
“Some of the MPs take sometimes strange decisions and this is on their conscience. I don’t think it is the President’s duty to comment on the moves of each MP. Those defections in Parliament are embarrassing and I’m firmly convinced that the people who watch us want this Parliament to leave as soon as possible,” President Dodon stated in the talk show “Fourth Power” on N4 channel.
Even if he said he didn’t discuss with MP Ștefan Gațcan, President Dodon considers it is the MP who helped break the deadlock in Parliament.
“Someone may criticize him, but MP Gațcan made a human gesture in this situation. When the pensions, pay raises for doctors were blocked by the so-called opposition, this informal coalition, he found courage in a not at all simple situation. He returned to help end the impasse. It is a nice, human gesture,” he stated.
As to the state guard, Igor Dodon said he has no connection with this. The decision to offer MP Gațcan protection was taken by the responsible bodies. The MP continues to benefit from state guard.
