The over 3 tonnes of humanitarian aid provided by China to Moldova will today reach the national health facilities. The aid includes personal protective equipment for medical staff, IPN reports.
Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the lot contains protective equipment that is essential in the fight against the COVID-19 disease and it will be distributed to medical institutions all over the country, depending on the profile, capacity and number of patients infected with the novel coronavirus.
President Igor Dodon said that 40-45 tonnes of consumables, medicines, test kits, equipment and devices needed to cope with the pandemic will be delivered next week with the assistance of China and of Russia, which will provide a military plane. “We are firmly convinced that together with specialists from the Republic of Moldova, together with our partners, we will cope with this challenge,” stated President Dodon.
China’s Ambassador to Moldova Zhang Yinghong said that even if China continues to face great pressure in the fight against the pandemic, it is ready to do everything possible to offer humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Moldova. “COVID-19 is the enemy of the whole mankind and we must combine forces in front of difficulties and help each other and fight together so as to ultimately defeat this pandemic,” stated the diplomat.
In a press release, the Embassy of China says that the third consignment of anti-epidemic assistance from the Government of China arrived in Chisinau on April 10. The aid weighs 3 tonnes and consists of 100,000 medical face masks, 500 infrared thermometers and 1,000 medical protective suits, glasses, gloves and overboots.
