Human rights situation in Moldova to be assessed by UN

The national delegation of the Republic of Moldova is taking part, in a hybrid format, in the 40th session of the UN Universal Periodic Review (UPR) in Geneva, which is assessing the human rights situation in the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said that the URP for the Republic of Moldova is an exercise of major importance given that it takes place once in five years and also in the context of the international human rights commitments undertaken by the Republic of Moldova.

“The Universal Periodic Review is a unique process which involves a periodic review of the human rights records of all the UN Member States. The Human Rights Council’s mechanism provides an opportunity for all States to declare what actions they have taken to improve the human rights situation in their countries and to fulfill their obligations in this field,” the Ministry noted in a press release.
