The Government is planning financial support for the citizens who will be unable to cope with the expected price rises, said Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. According to him, the executive will intervene with compensations, in particular in the case of natural gas tariffs, if the bills are higher, IPN reports.
“There where the price rises will be caused by external factors, as there are many things that we import, including energy resources, the Government is considering a compensation mechanism. The Governments of all the European states, including our neighbors, the Romanians, do this now. We will also compensate the rises that we cannot manage,” Igor Grosu stated in the program “Good Evening” on M1 channel.
The Speaker noted that changes will be also made at legislative level so as to reduce some of the prices, especially of the COVID-19 tests as a real business was developed here and the exaggerated prices of tests can be diminished by amending the Customs Code.
“We will intervene where money is made by profiting from people’s sorrows. For example, in the current pandemic situation, we have high test prices. In the next sitting of Parliament, we aim to obtain the amendment of the Customs Code and the regulation of the import price of tests. In most of the cases, we need these tests,” stated Grosu.
Currently, a RT-PCR test costs up to 800 lei, while an antigen test up to 400 lei.
