The Government of China acted swiftly and mobilized everyone to fight the pandemic. In total, it provided 283 consignments of humanitarian assistance with anti-epidemic supplies for 150 countries, organized video conferences between Chinese and Moldovan experts and shared its experience in preventing and controlling the infection, China’s Ambassador to Moldova Zhang Yinghong stated on the occasion of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China, IPN reports.
“During the pandemic, China and Moldova helped and took care of each other and many unforgettable moments touched me deeply. In the most difficult moment of the fight against the pandemic in China, Moldovan students made videos in order to support and pray for the Chinese people. As twinned cities, Ungheni and Nanchang helped each other to overcome the difficulties, becoming a nice story about the friendship between the two nations. The high-performance multifunctional ultrasound system we donated to the COVID-19 triage center at Moldexpo has played an important role in the diagnosing and treatment of patients, being appreciated by many doctors. “A friend in need is a friend indeed” and the traditional friendship between China and Moldova was again highlighted in our common fight against the pandemic!” said the ambassador.
According to him, during the 28 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Moldova, the bilateral relations continued to develop, while the cooperation in different areas produced good results. “Today, the world faces major changes that hadn’t been seen during a century and the whole mankind is confronted by opportunities and unprecedented challenges. I’m convinced that our states, China and Moldova, will keep pace with the evolution of times, will continue to strengthen the mutually advantageous cooperation, to develop the traditional friendship and to make new contributions so as to take the development of the bilateral relations to a higher level and to bring benefits to the two nations,” stated Zhang Yinghong.
The diplomat also said that the international cooperation in developing vaccines and medicines for COVID-19 is actively encouraged by China. “The President of China Xi Jinping made a solemn promise to the world – that China’s vaccines will become a global public product, that China will contribute to making the vaccines available and accessible in developing countries, fully reflecting the responsibility assumed by China as a major state,” noted Zhang Yinghong.
The ambassador gave his speech on the occasion of the celebration of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. On the same occasion, on the embassy’s Facebook page there are daily published, until October 5, by a short documentary of the series “Reporting Chinese miracle” on the steps of ten foreigners to discover China through their eyes.
