Almost 40 persons living on the stair of an apartment building situated on Melestiu St in Chisinau were evacuated after an underground natural gas pipe was damaged and could cause an explosion. Among the evacuated persons were seven children, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said the first investigations showed a number of workers performed underground digging works at a distance of 10 meters from the block and presumably damaged the pipe.
The Chisinau City Hall said the supply of natural gas for 211 consumers living on the streets Melestiu and Odessa will be disconnected on April 6 so as to perform repair works on the pipe. The supply will be restored at 1pm. For more details, the citizens can call the Municipal Central Dispatcher’s Office on (022) 22-22-67 or the Dispatcher’s Service of SRL “Chișinău-Gaz” on 904.
