Five more persons succumbed to COVID-19 in Moldova on June 4, taking the death toll to 315. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection also reported 223 new infections with the virus. The number of infections thus totals 9,018, IPN reports.
Constantin Rîmiș, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, told a press briefing that 1,449 tests were done today and 276 of them were rerun tests. More than 60,000 tests have been performed so far.
Eighty-nine of the new infections were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau. Eleven new cases were reported in the Transnistrian region. Twenty-two of those infected are healthcare workers.
“The number of infections the past three days has increased - 188, 247, 223. The epidemiological situation this week has worsened. We yet have a positive indicator - 146 cured persons. This way, the number of persons who recovered exceeded 5,000,” stated Constantin Rîmiș.
As many as 265 patients are in a serious state and 19 of them were put on a ventilator.
