Cooperation between China and Moldova is gradually extended and developed, ambassador

Since China and the Republic of Moldova established diplomatic relations 30 years ago, the two states have always adhered to such principles as reciprocal respect, equality and mutual benefits, non-interference in the internal affairs of the other state, focusing mainly on issues referring to national sovereignty and territorial integrity, with the bilateral relations having a very solid political basis, the Ambassador of China to the Republic of Moldova Yan Wenbin stated in his speech given on the occasion of the online celebration of the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, IPN reports.

The diplomat noted that even if it was affected by the pandemic at many levels, the pragmatic Chinese-Moldovan cooperation in different areas remained generally on an upward trend. In the first half of this year, bilateral trade between China and Moldova came to US$414 million, an increase of 5.78% on the same period last year, China becoming Moldova’s seventh most important commercial partner. “China imports and will continue to extend imports of Moldovan agricultural products. The Chinese and Moldovan companies and state departments are also in permanent touch to address the extension of investment cooperation. Cooperation between China and Moldova at the local level extends and develops gradually,” said Yan Wenbin.

Recently, Pingdingshan city in Henan Province and the municipality of Ungheni twinned, while Wuhan city in Hubei Province and the municipality of Soroca started amicable exchanges. The universities and research institutes of China and Moldova staged the first Romanian language teaching seminar. When the war in Ukraine started, China offered Moldova 5 million Yuan in humanitarian aid. In June, the third phase of the China-supported project Chinese Medicine Center was officially approved by the Government of Moldova and will be implemented soon. “We are confident that by the joint efforts of the sides, the development of China and Moldova will continue to see new progress and to bring more pragmatic benefits to the two countries and nations,” stated the ambassador.

According to Yan Wenbin, 2022 is an extremely unordinary year for China and for the whole world. China efficiently coordinated the prevention and combating of the pandemic and the economy and social development. In the first half of 2022, China’s GDP grew by 2.5% compared with the corresponding period last year and this confirms the strong resistance and huge potential of the Chinese economy.

At the beginning of 2022, China staged a series of major events that attracted international attention, such as the wonderful Winter Olympics in Beijing, fulfilling this way its solemn commitment to the international community. The 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, which will take place on October 16, is the most important event of China in 2022. The congress will work out the big plan and steps for the subsequent development of China.

“We are aware that the path will not be smooth but the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation entered an irreversible historic process. We must achieve our goal and we will definitely achieve it,” concluded the ambassador.
