The National Commission for Financial Markets (CNFP) reiterates the stated option concerning “the case of SA Moldasig” and counts a lot on the reaction of the authorities and responsible institutions, saying the constitution of a crisis cell is crucial. It said that as of November 20, the CNPF has been physically prevented from exercising its prerogatives in the special administration of SA “Moldasig”, the nonbanking surveillance authority being thus unable to apply the law, IPN reports.
In a press statement, the CNPF says the special administration instituted in July 2019 at SA “Moldasig” and the subsequent administration bodies of the given entity managed during a short period of time to order and manage correctly and responsibly the operational activities, including through firm measures to recover the assets lent by the decision of the former managers.
There were notified such responsible institutions as the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, the Superior Council of Magistracy. According to the commission, the examination of the applications submitted by the entity’s management in the second quarter of 2019 by courts of law was permanently thwarted and the case hasn’t been yet tried by the ordinary court.
In connection with the recent information broadcast in the public sphere, the National Commission for Financial Markets comes with clarification. “First of all, citizen Veaceslav Platon hasn’t been featured as a “shareholder” in the current (“Moldasig” SA) and former insurance companies “Asito” SA and “Alliance Insurance Group”. Consequently, the “pretentions” of this lack any legal basis,” stated the CNFP.
Three days ago, the National Commission for Financial Markets announced that it will take over the insurance company “Moldasig” and will name a special temporary administrator there following the irregularities identified in the good governance of the company.
Businessman Veaceslav Platon, who says that he has been a shareholder of the company since 2012, noted the insurer’s shareholders make effort to recover 40 million lei from the company that manages the Chisinau Airport - Avia Invest. When the CNPF found out about these plans, it illegally tried to take over “Moldasig”. According to Platon, “Moldasig” during many years has been dispossessed of money through the influences of Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor so that the company lost the leading position on the insurance market. A part of the money extracted from the company reached Avia Invest.
