Chemicals worth 144m lei. Searches carried out in four localities

Law enforcement officers conducted searches in four localities of Moldova in a case of money laundering and improper storage of over 20 million kilograms of fertilizers (including NPK) and ammonium sulfate of doubtful quality, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, the chemicals imported from Russia and other states by a company founded by citizens of Moldova and Russia were estimated at over 144 million lei.

Searches were carried out at warehouses in Edineț, Florești and Cahul. The substances that were improperly kept under the open sky and bags with samples of a granulated substance were seized. The substance is to be examined.

Also, accounting documents, draft documents, information carriers and communication devices were seized from the office based in Chisinau.

As a result of the procedural actions, prosecutors classed a decision maker from Chisinau as a suspect. The investigations continue.
