As many as 25,900 applications to provide cold-month compensations for public utilities and energy resources for socially deprived families in Chisinau have been processed. The local authorities allocated about 50 million lei for paying compensations, the head of the General Public Amenities Division Ion Burdiumov stated in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, being quoted by IPN.
Of the processed applications, 21,500 referred to the compensation of costs for heat, 2,700 – for gas, 1,600 - for wood and coal, while 14 – for electricity. “There are several more applications to provide compensations for wood and coal from suburban settlements, but they will be processed next week and the compensated sums will be paid this month,” stated Ion Burdiumov.
After the registers were updated, 2,867 applicants were removed from the list of recipients as no longer eligible for compensations. As many as 422 new applications were filed this year.
The cold-month compensations for public utilities and energy resources, in the amount of 40% of the bill, are intended for families whose incomes for the past 12 months are lower than 3,000 lei a month per person and for young families (younger than 35) with a global monthly income lower than 5,000 lei.
