Sheriff won the golden match against Dacia 1-0 and thus became Moldova’s football champion for the 14th time. Bosnian fullback Goran Galesic brought the title to the Tiraspol team after his free kick in the 88th minute was unsuccessfully swerved by the defense of Dacia.
Sheriff secured its presence in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, while Dacia will compete in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League. ”We need to strengthen the team so as to have a good performance in the European cups. My contract with Sheriff is valid for one more year, but I haven’t been yet confirmed for the future season,” Sheriff coach Zoran Vulic told a news conference.
The match was controlled by a team of referees from Hungary, led by Sandor Szabo.
