Bulgaria is ready to offer Moldova its whole expertise in the European integration process, including in such priority reform areas as the financial-banking sector, the President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev said in a meeting with the President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti, which was held on the sidelines of the Summit of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP) in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, IPN reports.
According to the presidential press service, Nicolae Timofti appreciated the consistent and reliable support for Moldova’s path to European integration, saying that Moldova counts on Bulgaria’s practical assistance in implementing the Association Agreement with the EU.
The Heads of State encouraged the organization of a meeting of the Prime Ministers of the two countries. They also exchanged opinions on the Moldovan-Bulgarian cooperation and discussed the developments in the region.
Nicolae Timofti invited the President of the Bulgaria to pay an official visit to Moldova in the nearest future and Rosen Plevneliev accepted the invitation.
The SEECP Summit ended on June 1 with the adoption of a common statement of the member states, which reiterated their commitment to intensify the cooperation in key areas, such as energy, transport, infrastructure, investment climate and environment protection.
Bulgaria held the presidency of the SEECP until recently and handed it over to Croatia.
